A multimedia guide for the Pyrenees : called PYRENEO, the GPS multimedia guide will be in operation (download or rent) in the summer of 2007.
Experimented with from this summer, the project has been created and piloted by Camineo, in partnership with Rando Editions (Editions Sud-Ouest) and France Développement Conseil.
PYRENEO is an award-winner of the request for proposals for VANS (Valuation of the Applications of the Navigation by Satellites) launched by the DRIRE and the Prefecture of Region Midi-Pyrenees, in technological partnership with the CNES (Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales - National Centre of Spatial Studies).
80% financed by the French Ministry of Industry, this programme aims to encourage small and medium-sized firms to experiment and industrialize innovative concepts in the sector of navigation by satellite using GPS, EGNOS and eventually Galileo signals.
